Malls & Retail

Turnkey fire suppression for shopping malls and large retail buildings

Overview

Malls require comprehensive fire protection due to high visitor density, large open volumes and numerous commercial kitchens. A mall fire suppression system requires running sprinklers, addressable detection, smoke ventilation, fire compartmentation and kitchen hood suppression as an integrated whole. A-Pro delivers hydraulic calculation, smoke-control design, fire-department approval and commissioning under one roof. We start with a free site survey in Ankara and surrounding provinces.

How it works

Sprinkler Requirement

Sprinklers are mandatory in malls, department stores and entertainment venues exceeding 2,000 m² total area (Article 96).

Addressable Detection

Addressable automatic detection is mandatory in retail buildings above 12.50 m height or 2,000 m² (Annex-7).

Fire Compartment

A fire compartment in malls is limited to 2,000 m², supported by smoke curtains and fire dampers.

Smoke Ventilation & Control

Mechanical smoke extraction in atria and large volumes keeps escape routes clear and eases intervention.

Kitchen Suppression

Wet-chemical hood suppression is mandatory in food-court commercial kitchens serving 100+ people (Article 57).

Fire-Brigade Riser

A fire-brigade dry riser is mandatory in malls whose floor area exceeds 1,000 m² (Article 97).

Our delivery process

  1. 01

    Free Survey

Determine BYKHY thresholds from total area, storey count, atrium volume and food-court capacity.

  2. 02

    Risk & Conformity Analysis

Inspect the existing system and define compartmentation and smoke-control needs.

  3. 03

    Engineering & Approval

Sprinkler hydraulic calculation, smoke-ventilation design, detection design and fire-department approval.

  4. 04

    Supply & Installation

Pump station, sprinklers, addressable detection, smoke dampers and hood suppression.

  5. 05

    Testing & Commissioning

Pressure-flow test, smoke-control scenario and acceptance procedures on handover.

  6. 06

    Maintenance & Monitoring

Continuous readiness and conformity tracking via a periodic maintenance contract.

Maintenance & periodic inspection

BYKHY and TS EN 12845 require periodic inspection of malls; A-Pro keeps the system ready under heavy visitor load at any moment through a testing and maintenance contract.

  • Weekly/monthly fire-pump run and gauge checks
  • Sprinkler head and alarm-valve inspection
  • Addressable detector and panel test
  • Smoke damper and extraction fan functionality check
  • Hood-suppression nozzle and cylinder pressure check
  • Hose cabinet and dry-riser pressure test

Frequently asked questions

At what area is a sprinkler mandatory in a mall?+

Sprinklers are mandatory in malls, department stores and entertainment venues exceeding 2,000 m² total area (Article 96).

What is the mall compartment area?+

A fire compartment in malls can be at most 2,000 m², divided by smoke curtains and fire dampers.

What drives the cost of a mall fire suppression system?+

It depends on total area, storey count, atrium volume, food court and existing infrastructure. A clear quote is shared after a free survey.

Can installation/revision be done while the mall is open?+

Yes. Phased and night work minimizes disruption to commercial operations during installation and revision.

Is suppression mandatory for food-court kitchens?+

Wet-chemical hood suppression is mandatory in commercial kitchens serving 100+ people (Article 57).
