Which system is mandatory for which building?
Sprinkler (automatic)
Madde 96- Non-residential buildings: height above 30.50 m
- Hotel/dorm: 100+ rooms or 200+ beds, or above 21.50 m
- Indoor car park: above 600 m²
- Mall / retail-entertainment: above 2,000 m²
Kitchen hood suppression
Madde 57- Kitchens serving more than 100 people at once
- All commercial kitchens within a mall
- Kitchens inside high-rise buildings (above 30.50 m)
- Catering / meal factories
Gas (clean-agent) suppression
Madde 98- Switchgear / UPS / server and electronic rooms
- IT rooms and data centers
- Transformer and generator rooms
- Museums, archives, libraries (TS ISO 14520)
Fire detection & alarm
Madde 75 / EK-7- All non-residential buildings over 4 storeys
- Accommodation / healthcare: above 6.50 m and 1,000 m²
- Industrial: above 21.50 m and 7,500 m²

Frequently asked questions
When is the Turkish Fire Code compliance deadline?+
For all existing buildings it is 31 December 2025 (BYKHY Provisional Article 4). For accommodation facilities flagged in inspection, a separate regulation sets 31 May 2026.
Is sprinkler mandatory for my hotel?+
Per Article 96, automatic sprinklers are mandatory for hotels, dorms and guesthouses with more than 100 rooms or 200 beds, or a building height above 21.50 m.
Does my kitchen need hood suppression?+
Under Article 57, automatic hood suppression is mandatory for kitchens serving more than 100 people at once, commercial kitchens in malls, kitchens in high-rises, and meal factories.
What is the difference between the two deadlines?+
31 December 2025 is the general BYKHY compliance date covering all buildings. 31 May 2026 applies only to accommodation facilities flagged in inspection, under a separate regulation — it is not a deadline for all buildings.
